CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) means a field which conducts analysis with help of numerical modelling by computers. As computer performance develops rapidly in recent years, it became possible to make a model with identical specification of the actual product, and to carry out numerical interpretation and analysis.
There are largely two types of works in this field.
First, CAE allows to save the cost and testing time dramatically via simulations in product design & development stage, and also it integrates all the procedure of the development including engineering analysis, cost analysis, product planning & manufacture management.
Second, CAE is used for troubleshooting, namely to analyze the cause of problems generated in actual use.
In this way, researchers who have professional knowledge in the fields of vibrating noise, structure analysis, heat flow analysis & etc. find flaws while product’s design/development/manufacture in advance, suggest solutions. This is how they contributes to reduce cost, enhance product’s quality, raise its competitiveness.
The main task is to support actual projects, in addition to analysis of steering motion/ steering endurance/pulse sound/strength & rigidity/vibration mode/thermal deformation/thermal conductivity/phase change/oil leak/clamping force/internal pressure/reaction forces/trajectory/dynamic characteristics/ pneumaticity/extrusion/injection flow.
